Youth-Led Digital Dialogue Unites Global Voices Against Online Gender-Based Violence

On April 10, 2025, the “DIGIT@LLY TOGETHER FOR GENDER EQUALITY” local conference convened youth and experts from multiple countries to address the urgent issue of online gender-based violence and promote gender equality. Moderated by Abdul-Wahab and enriched by contributions from GEM-GHANA, the event marked a significant milestone in the youth-led project under the DIGE initiative.

The conference featured insightful discussions focused on:

  • The prevalence and impact of online harassment, including forms such as cyberstalking, sextortion, and unwanted contact.
  • Digital safety strategies tailored to empower women to take proactive steps in protecting themselves online.
  • The importance of understanding and exercising gender equality rights for individual empowerment and collective progress.

Expert Contributions:

Madam Addy Kehinde Hussanat, a representative from GEM-GHANA, and Madam Raha Zakaria, a certified DIGE Trainer, delivered presentations highlighting:

  • Legal frameworks including the National Domestic Violence Act and the Cybersecurity Act of Ghana.
  • The role of digital marketing training in advancing women’s empowerment and economic participation.
