Sedarvp-Ghana on Thursday the 7th of October, 2021 organized a sensitization workshop for final year students of Tiyumba JHS on carreer guidance and educational options.
Tiyumba M/A Junior high school is one of the popular public schools in Tamale with over 300 students and pupils. The school has all the strands of the basic school system ranging from creche to junior high school 3.
The team of Sedarvp-Ghana with the support of Dr. Abdulai Faisal Tikuma, a Medical Doctor and a resource person for the program took the final year students through career guidance on educational options and their choice of courses to offer at the Senior High School as they are prepare to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The students were admonished through the series of presentations to avoid negative peer influence and focus on developing their individual strengths through their collective weaknesses.
The Assistant headteacher who spoke on behalf of the students and the staff commended the Sedarvp-Ghana team for such a progressive initiative with the primary aim of guiding the students to make life changing decisions. According to him, this program will get the students to be aware of the choices available to them and the advantages and disadvantages of their weaknesses and strengths. He urged Sedarvp-Ghana to replicate this program to other schools in the Northern region.
Madam Rukaya, the International Volunteers and Intern’s Coordinator of Sedarvp-Ghana also took the opportunity to thank the school management for opening their doors with this warm reception to Sedarvp-Ghana. She pledged that Sedarvp-Ghana is always available and ready to prepared to offer her services to the school and other sister schools.
