SEDARVP Ghana’s Participation at UN Events

We are thrilled to share our active participation in two significant United Nations events that took place at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA. SEDARVP Ghana, represented by our esteemed Executive Director, Mr. Shaibu Abukari NiendowDirector of Research Mr. Alhassan Rabiu, PENSYLVIAN Country Director (Dagomba Chief) Mr. Nashirudeen Tahir A. Kadir, Mr. James Reinhold, founder of Geniopay, and SEDARVP GHANA Director of Digital Strategy in the person of Mr. Suhuyini Shani Zango. Mr. Abukari Shaibu Niendow had the privilege of contributing to vital discussions aimed at fostering social development, advancing gender equality, and accelerating progress towards sustainable development goals.

1. 62nd Session of the Commission for Social Development (csocd62)

Under the theme “Fostering social development and social justice through social policies to accelerate progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to achieve the overarching goal of poverty eradication,” this session convened from February 5th to February 14th, 2024. SEDARVP-Ghana actively engaged in dialogues centered on the critical role of social policies in driving progress towards sustainable development and poverty eradication. Our participation emphasized the importance of inclusive and equitable social policies that leave no one behind, particularly vulnerable populations.

2. Sixty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68)

Held from March 11th to March 22nd, 2024, CSW68 focused on “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective.” SEDARVP-Ghana contributed to discussions aimed at advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls by addressing poverty and enhancing institutional support. Our interventions underscored the significance of targeted policies, investments, and institutional frameworks to dismantle barriers to gender equality and foster inclusive development.

SEDARVP-Ghana is honored to be one of the few Non-Governmental Organizations globally accredited by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and holds UNFCCC Observer status. This recognition grants us the privilege to participate in all UN events, where we advocate for sustainable development, social justice, and gender equality.
